Connie Henson
Dr. Henson is the Director of Learning Quest Pty. Limited, an applied business psychology firm. Prior to founding Learning Quest in 2001, she worked for a global consulting firm and as an academic. She consults to multinational organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the US.
Creating and implementing individual and organisational development programs, Connie consults to a wide variety of businesses and industries including high tech, manufacturing, retail, public sector, hospitality, food and beverage, media and banking/financial services. Her work includes executive developmental assessment & coaching, leadership team development, mentoring/coaching programs, 360 feedback and executive leadership training. She has designed strategic competency models and assessment centres for use in succession management and leadership development.
In addition to her consulting activities, Connie teaches MBA students at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) in Sydney, and the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) in Sydney, and Hong Kong. She has previously taught Ph.D. students at the University of Florida and guest lectured at the Cox school of Business, Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Actively involved in research, Connie presents papers at professional meetings and conferences. Current research interests include investigating the impact of interpersonal relationships on the learning process including coaching and mentoring relationships. She has developed on-line evaluation tools and is collecting normative data for commercial and non-profit organisations. Previous presentations and publications topics include: Coaching Teams and Team Leaders, Ethics, Executive Coaching, and ‘Addressing the Needs of Disaster Survivors’.
In addition to her professional work, Connie is active in her community. She consults on a pro bono basis to non-profit organisations and is currently involved in the coordination and training of learning partners for homeless students. Other volunteer projects include; leadership development and executive coaching for leaders within non-profit organisations and marginalised communities, and providing career development counseling for young indigenous people and teaching courses in humanities to homeless adults. In 2003, she participated in the Benevolent Society’s Sydney Leadership program, which promotes the development of Social/Community Leadership, and currently provides pro bono consulting to the 2004/2005 programs. Connie is lifelong learner, who is passionate about leadership development.
Dr. Henson received her Ph.D. and MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas. She received her MS degree is in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and her BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She is a current member of the American Psychological Association and the Australian Psychological Society and is a registered psychologist with NSW and the state of Texas.
