M. Peter Scontrino

M. Peter Scontrino has 33 years of experience as an external consultant and is a widely recognized expert in the application of the principles of industrial-organizational psychology to people and organizations. Dr. Scontrino has assisted his clients in projects ranging in scope from employee selection and performance appraisal systems to productivity incentive plans and employee involvement systems; from management development programs to organization-wide change efforts.

His coaching approach is to work with the client to develop clear expectations. He then creates a professional development plan that includes regular feedback points to assure that the client stays focused and on target. His clients cover the gamut from Fortune 100 companies to five person operations. Some of Peter’s recent clients include Southern California Edison, Microsoft, Darigold, City of Redmond, Delta Dental and Starbucks. His consulting practice has taken him from Canada to Mexico and from the United States to Iceland to Japan.

M. Peter Scontrino, a graduate of Seattle University and Michigan State University, holds the Ph.D. degree in industrial-organizational psychology. He is a licensed psychologist in the State of Washington. Born and raised in the State of Washington, he served on the faculties of the University of Washington and Seattle University prior to forming Scontrino & Associates. He has published a number of articles and has co-authored a text on performance appraisal. He is a past director of the Washington State Psychological Association and of the Pacific Northwest Organizational Development Network. In 1996 he was selected to be an examiner for the Washington State Quality Award.

I like the variety and stimulation that comes with consulting assignments. For fun I like to spend time with the family, run, read science fiction, and ride motorcycles. On weekends I am a certified flight instructor in helicopters.
