Kyoung Oh Lawton

Kyoung (pronounced “Key-young”) Lawton is a seasoned executive coach and organizational change expert. She partners with the client organization in maximizing the return on the investments (ROI) that it makes in its people. Her practice targets to equip the organization for its current and future success and at the same time, to advance the overall effectiveness and satisfaction of individual leaders.

Dr. Lawton has intensely worked with organizational interventions both at the macro and micro levels. In improving organization’s conditions, she develops processes of the organization that constantly ensure the alignment of right talent and consistent, fair handling of its people. For the micro-level interventions, she delivers her expertise to assess leadership capability, coach and train needed skill areas, and evaluate the impact of the change efforts.

In turn, some areas of her expertise include executive coaching, leadership assessment, talent pool analysis, team building, strategic job and competency modeling, performance management process, leadership succession planning, organizational effectiveness, and cross-cultural issues consultation.

The majority of Dr. Lawton’s professional accomplishments have been working with global companies and leaders located in various parts of the world. Also, she delivers with experienced insights as she has partnered with organizations in an array of industries, including high tech, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, transportation, manufacturing, aerospace, finance/banking, health care, information service, hospitality and retail.

Prior to founding her own consultancy, Unity Solutions, Dr. Lawton worked at Personnel Decisions International (a global HR consulting firm), Ameritech (a telecommunication company) and Motorola Inc. (a hi-tech, semiconductor company). She has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. She was educated in both eastern and western cultures and is fluent in both English and Korean.

Dedicated to improving the community where she belongs, she devotes her personal time in helping the leadership and processes of school boards and for-cause organizations. She is an active member of a parents’ group of gifted and talented students and a parent-teacher organization and serves on several committees of a local church. She also enjoys working with school age children in various settings, inspiring to make an impact in reaching out young minds and in turn, shaping next generations.
