Karen Wilson-Starks

Dr. Karen Y. Wilson-Starks is the President and CEO of TRANSLEADERSHIP, INC., a values-based executive leadership development consulting company. She specializes in helping clients to create the conditions to fully utilize the talents and skills of their people. She assists corporate, faith-based, not-for-profit, and US government clients to attract and retain more of the best people by creating cultures that are developmental, inclusive, and transforming. Intervention tools include executive coaching, executive retreats and teambuilding, individual and organizational assessments, and customized executive education. As an executive coach, Dr. Wilson-Starks has been described by clients as one who uses wisdom, insight, keen observation, listening, and effective questioning, to help clients through four phases of executive coaching:

  • Discovery: Uncover and explore a more in-depth picture of one's self and circumstances
  • Analysis: Evaluate and understand the meaning of what is discovered
  • Implementation: Put what is learned into real-life practice including in-session practice scenarios
  • Trim the Sail: Adjust and change strategies, techniques, and approaches for maximum effectiveness

Karen’s work experience has been coast-to-coast throughout the United States and also in Europe. Clients have included manufacturing, technology, pharmaceutical, food services, financial services, oil and gas, higher education, foundations, the US military, Churches, and others. Her co-authored article, “Consulting Competently in Multicultural Contexts” was published in the June 2008 edition of the Consulting Psychology Journal.

Dr. Wilson-Starks is also currently an adjunct faculty member of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) where she continues to provide training, coaching, and other services to Fortune 500 corporate clients. Her previous positions include serving as an active duty Army Psychologist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., the First Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; operating private practices in a variety of locations; functioning as the Chief of the Psychology Service for the Exceptional Family Member program in Frankfurt, Germany; and working as the Chief Assessor and a Senior Program Associate for CCL in Colorado Springs.

In her leisure time she enjoys international travel, Broadway theatre, vacations to the ocean, and reading and writing. Be sure to ask about her latest spiritual insight.
