Elyse Sutherland
Elyse Sutherland is an expert in senior leadership assessment and development, consulting with businesses in diverse industries to select and develop executives and teams. An organizational psychologist, as well as a successful executive and team leader, Sutherland has managed the Michigan consulting offices of both Personnel Decisions International and, most recently, Right Management Consultants.
She began her career as an internal consultant with AT&T, after receiving her doctorate from the University of Michigan. Sutherland started her own consulting firm in 2006, Sutherland Leadership Strategies, specializing in executive coaching, assessment for selection and development, senior leadership succession, action-based leadership development, talent management and senior team development.
Some recent examples of Sutherland’s work include:
- Executive coaching with the senior executives at a global manufacturing company in order to prepare the next CEO and other key leaders for new roles
- Working with Board and current CEO of an energy company to objectively assess current senior leaders and select the next CEO
- Designing a global, year-long development program for high potential leaders that helped align the company, after many mergers, and develop the talent pipeline
- Facilitating a series of meetings with a senior team that resulted in clearer roles, more effective decision-making and greater alignment on strategy
Elyse received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan. She conducted post-doctoral work in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit.
